Veneers

Get Veneers at Oakville’s Oak Park Dental

Have you ever wanted perfectly white teeth just like Hollywood celebrities? The answer is found through porcelain veneers. Veneers are thin, shells applied to the front of your teeth to give it a nicer appearance. They hide gaps, chips, and large discoloured stains. Often made of durable porcelain, they also look virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

At Oak Park Dental in Oakville, we offer veneers for patients looking for a cosmetic solution to their chips, stains, and more. Be sure to give us a call if you are interested in composite resin or porcelain veneers at our Oakville area clinic.

Composite Resin Veneer Process

The process of installing composite resin veneers is similar to the bonding process. First, the surface of the tooth is roughened so that the veneer can adhere more easily. Then, a colour similar to your natural tooth’s colour is chosen. The resin is layered onto your tooth, formed, and hardened in layers using a light.

Porcelain Veneer Process

Porcelain is a stronger material than composite resin and generally doesn’t change colour or stain. However, they may require two visits to the dentist to apply. To fit you for porcelain veneers, the dentist first applies local anaesthetic and then removes a thin layer of enamel from the surface of the tooth. The dentist will make a mould of your teeth and use this mold to craft your custom porcelain veneers.

While you wait for your porcelain veneers to be made, you will wear temporary veneers that are quite fragile, so care for them well. When it’s time to put on your permanent porcelain veneers, your dentist will roughen the surface of your teeth and then place on the veneers, one by one, with composite resin cement.
