- Wait for the implant to bond and the tissue to heal, which may take a few months
- Attach the abutment to the bond once it heals – an abutment is a post that connects the replacement tooth to the bond
- Form a replacement tooth and attach it to the abutment, a process that can take several appointments
Complications are uncommon, but as with all medical procedures, you may be at risk to things such as bleeding, infection, and numbness. The implant may also fail to bond to the jawbone.
